Aspheric collimators offer several advantages over standard glass or plastic spheric collimators.
The laser output power rises by up to 35% by using a single element aspheric lens and the output beam is much tigher as you can get by using spheric lenses.
The pictures below show a setup of a 1W 445nm and 300mW 658nm laser diode. The output power rises dramatically when an aspheric lens is used.
The broadband AR coating make this lens usable for all laser diodes within the visible spectral range.
